Position Summary

This is an onsite IT position in Winston-Salem, NC with weekly visits to client office locations. VERSA Technologies is looking for a capable and motivated IT professional to work daily with our client base in all aspects of the consulting, configuration, maintenance, and support of their IT network environments. The IT Network Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining client data networks, while ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the network infrastructure to support business operations and end users. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, and good interpersonal skills. The IT Network Administrator provides both on-site and remote professional services and consulting support for clients as needed. Essential Duties and Primary Responsibilities

The IT Network Administrator provides onsite and remote consulting and service support to multiple client networks. Candidates should possess strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills, in addition to in-depth technical knowledge of business network hardware and software. At least two years of education or experience working with relevant hardware and software systems is preferred.

  • Design, configure, and install data network hardware, software, and interconnections
  • Configure and install network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, QoS)
  • Monitor network performance to ensure system availability and reliability
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including patches, hotfixes, firmware upgrades, and security configurations
  • Schedule and perform regular network backups
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve network issues promptly to minimize downtime
  • Implement and manage security tools, policies, and procedures to protect network infrastructure
  • Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Assess current network performance and forecast future needs to ensure network scalability
  • Optimize network performance by monitoring, analyzing, and tuning network configurations
  • Provide training and support to end-users and IT team members on network-related issues
  • Perform root-cause analysis for service interruptions and implement preventive measures
  • Administer network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and wireless access points
  • Provide technical support and problem resolution for networking issues to clients and end users
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in network technologies
  • Collaborate with IT team members, clients, and vendors to resolve technical issues
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, processes, and service records
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work to perform maintenance, upgrades, or emergency repairs
  • This position will be part of an on-call rotation for after-hours support

Qualifications and Experience

  • Associate or higher degree in a related field
  • Preferred 2 or more years of network design, support, and maintenance experience
  • Valid NC Driver s License required
  • Preferred certifications are Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Network+, or similar
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven track record of resolving complex technical problems and the ability to consult with clients for future needs

  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, IPSEC) and network technologies (e.g., LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and VLANs)
  • Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Auvik)
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing network equipment and services, including firewalls, routers, switches, WAPs, VPNs, VLANs and other network infrastructure
  • Experience with hardware vendors such as Aruba, Meraki, SonicWall, and Ubiquiti
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office applications
