Remote | Data Security Engineer | Full-time

We are actively recruiting a Data Security Engineer in Knoxville, TN to play a critical role in safeguarding the organization s data. This is a remote contract opportunity. The successful candidate will design, implement, enhance, and oversee cybersecurity solutions to ensure data protection throughout the organization. As part of this team, you will create, implement, and monitor security systems and features to prevent data breaches. You will also handle tasks such as defining and enforcing security policies, configuring firewalls and intrusion detection systems, responding to security crises, and conducting network maintenance. You will play a crucial role in ensuring data security and compliance with relevant cybersecurity laws and frameworks. Experience with AI data governance preferred.

Due to client request, candidates must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Policy Compliance: Ensure compliance with data security policies, processes, and procedures in day-to-day management.

Security Assessment: Continuously assess security effectiveness, identify updates, and explore opportunities for renewals or enhancements.

Secure Data Transmission: Prevent unsafe data transmission and conduct confidential data transfers with firewall protection.

Software Management: Install, uninstall, and maintain data security software.

Forensic Analysis: Compile post-breach information for forensic analysis.

Security Planning: Draft security plans based on the organization s needs and current threats.

Basic Qualifications:

A BS in information systems, computer science, computer engineering, information technology, business, or a related field of study and five (5) to seven (7) years of aligned experience is required. An overall combination of equivalent experience may be considered.

Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

Self-starter that can perform at a high level with minimal direction

Strong attention to detail while working in a diverse team environment

A basic professional level of knowledge and experience in applying technical principles and theories
