Ink Technician

Our Buffalo, NY printing client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ink Technician to support their pressroom operations. In this role, you'll be responsible for mixing, matching, and maintaining inks used in their label and packaging production. You'll work closely with Press Operators to ensure consistent color quality, accurate formulations, and well-managed inventory levels.

Job Responsibilities

• Mix and match inks to meet precise color specifications for production jobs.
• Support Press Operators with on-press color adjustments and troubleshooting.
• Use color measurement tools and software to verify color accuracy and consistency.
• Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly ink inventories.
• Track and restock all ink-related supplies as needed.
• Conduct hazardous-waste inspections and maintain safety compliance.
• Keep all mixing and storage areas clean, organized, and labeled properly.
• Prepare ink drawdowns and samples as required.
• Perform basic equipment setup and cleaning to ensure smooth operations.
• Work safely, efficiently, and collaboratively with the pressroom team.

Job Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational background preferred.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in printing, color mixing, or ink room operations preferred.
• Skills:
  • Solid understanding of ink formulation, color theory, and measurement tools.
  • Strong math and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, inventory systems).
  • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently.
• Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a moderately noisy manufacturing environment.
