Duties

Help

  • Implements systems security plans, policies and preventive maintenance schedules. Using systems diagnostic tools and fault identification techniques, runs tests to verify operability and functionality.
  • Carries out routine maintenance, upgrade, and support of servers. Performs assignments using standard principles, theories, concepts and methods for systems administration and systems engineering.
  • Provides ongoing optimization and problem solving support to minimize interruptions in customers' ability to carry out critical business activities. Provides information and instructions related to the maintenance and service process.
  • Runs systems backups. Prepares and presents reports and briefings to technical staff. Interprets IT policies, standards and guidelines.
  • Develops network usage policies and procedures. Applies information security and information assurance policy, principles, and practices.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

Experience, education and/or specialized training sufficient to demonstrate knowledge and skill in:

- Principles and methods for integrating information systems components

- Performance tuning tools and techniques

- System diagnostic tool and fault identification techniques

- Systems administration methods

- IT security principles

Education

  • The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is Local. Joint Base Lewis McChord is located in Washington State and the local commuting area is defined as locations that are on or within a 50-mile radius of the JBLM installation. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.)

  • This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
