Title: AWS Cloud Engineer

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid)

Contract: W2 Only (NO C2C / 1099)

About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer / Architect to design, build, and operate secure, scalable cloud platforms and services. You’ll lead infrastructure automation, Kubernetes/container orchestration, serverless architectures, and cloud security, while collaborating with DevOps, SRE, and product teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cloud architectures on AWS (networking, compute, storage, security).
  • Build IaC using Terraform/CloudFormation, and automate CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deploy and manage EKS/ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS/Aurora/DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront.
  • Implement observability (CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, PrometheGrafana) and cost governance.
  • Enforce security best practices: IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, WAF, GuardDuty, Security Hub.
  • Lead reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and mentor engineers.

Required Skills

  • 12+  years of IT experience, with 4+ years hands-on with AWS at scale.
  • Strong in AWS services: VPC, Subnets, NAT/IGW, Route 53, EC2, ALB/NLB, EKS/ECS, Lambda, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront.
  • IaC: Terraform (modules/workspaces), CloudFormation (Stacks/CDK).
  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions/Jenkins/Azure DevOps, Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Networking/security: IAM, Security Groups/NACLs, WAF, KMS, CSPM basics.
  • Monitoring/logging: CloudWatch, CloudTrail, X-Ray, metrics/tracing/log aggregation.
  • Scripting: Python/Bash; strong Linux fundamentals.

Nice-to-Have

  • Event-driven: SQS/SNS/Kinesis, Step Functions, EventBridge.
  • Data: Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, Redshift.
  • Hybrid/enterprise: Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Landing Zones, Control Tower.
  • Compliance: CIS Benchmarks, SOC2, PCI-DSS, HIPAA.
