Open-Source Analyst
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Reston, VA 20191
Constellation seeks an Open-Source Analyst to join our Homeland Security Division in Washington, DC, evaluating the processes, people, and technology for our clients operations.
The Open-Source Analyst, working independently or as part of a contractor team, will be responsible for providing collection and analytical support for social media and open-source monitoring, identifying, analyzing, and presenting information within the open-source environment. They will evaluate and solve the agency’s security challenges, specifically in support of the Department of Homeland Security’s law enforcement mission by collecting, reviewing, and analyzing open-source information. The Analyst will prepare reports summarizing findings and present analysis to clients.
Open-Source Analyst will have:
· Experience writing intelligence products.
· In-depth and demonstrated knowledge of current international and domestic threat environment.
· Experience conducting open-source collection and analysis and academic research, all-source intelligence analysis, and/or targeting.
· Experience applying open-source concepts, methods, and practices to support intelligence research and analysis operations.
· Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative techniques to effectively locate and identify information of concern in publicly available information including social, news, and traditional media.
· Knowledge of Internet-based research, search engine and database resources, and Internet sources, such as social media, social networking tools, data exploitation, and commercial- and industry-based databases.
· Demonstrated ability to establish liaison and interact effectively with individuals at all levels to coordinate activities with other intelligence and law enforcement personnel.
· Experience building online social media personas and footprints to resolve identities of anonymous actors online.
· Experience with threat assessments for online exposure and data suppression techniques and activities.
· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
The ideal candidate must have the following experience, background, and credentials:
· Master’s Degree in Data Analysis or a related field and at least 4 years of relevant experience and/or a Bachelor’s Degree in Data Analysis or a related field and at least 10 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience includes any positions that requires advanced online research or other investigative techniques.
· ==== able to pass a background investigation by the client agency. DHS clearance with CBP/ICE or DoD Top-Secret preferred.
· Knowledge of popular and fringe social media platforms
· Completed Open-Source Intelligence or advanced internet research training course
· Minimum of four years’ proven experience as a consultant or support contractor.
· Strong ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and in writing
· Ability to write clearly and concisely
· Ability to clearly summarize information in writing
· Knowledge of internet-based research
· Demonstrated ability to learn new software
