The Communication Software Implementation Department (CSID) at the Aerospace Corporation is hiring! CSID provides proof-of-concept studies, novel algorithms, and prototypes using software-defined radios, reconfigurable hardware transceivers, wireless communication, and navigation systems to enable the Space Enterprise's mission success. We are recognized experts in applying non-classical approaches, such as machine learning, to solve real-world problems in satellite communication, signals intelligence, anti-interference, and other mission areas.
CSID goes beyond analysis and simulation to push the leading edge by building working intelligent communication prototypes using software-defined radios. The domain for our larger engineering division, Communication Technologies, and Engineering Division, focuses on main-mission communication satellites, wideband links, command and telemetry, and terrestrial networks, along with their enabling technologies.
This position is a hybrid work model and can sit partially remotely with some onsite work required in El Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VA.

What You'll Be Doing
- The chosen talented individual will look to support and develop backend architecture and interconnects for RF exploitation processors
- Architect and implement RF exploitation system prototypes to guide space enterprise acquisition strategies
- Engage in mentoring activities that promote a culture of inclusivity and growth both within, and across, organizational boundaries
- Manage technical projects with cross-disciplinary teams from proposal to execution plan to final product delivery
- Must be excited about exploring fields and concepts that may be out of your current work experience
This position can be filled as an RF Exploitation Data Engineer or Sr. RF Exploitation Data Engineer.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for RF Exploitation Data Engineer:
- MUST HAVE an active TS/SCI security clearance for consideration
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or another related disciplineis required
- Typically 8 or more years of experience of backend development utilizing
- Containerized deployment: Docker, Kubernetes, Harbor, or equivalents
- Programming languages: SQL, Python, PHP, JavaScript, or Java
- Knowledge of cloud technologies: AWS, Azure, or equivalents
- Experience leveraging DevOps/SecDevOps pipelines
- Technical leadership skills, from project ideation to delivery of Aerospace-quality products
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with corporate, customer, and contractor management and staff
- Effective mentorship of junior engineers
Minimum Requirements for Sr. RF Exploitation Data Engineer:
- All of the above requirements for RF Exploitation Data Engineer
- Typically 12 or more years of professional experience in backend development utilizing
- Containerized deployment: Docker, Kubernetes, Harbor, or equivalents
- Programming languages: SQL, Python, PHP, JavaScript, or Java
- Knowledge of cloud technologies: AWS, Azure, or equivalents
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Advanced degree (Master or PhD) in relevant engineering disciplines
- Bring over 6-years of work experience in backend development
- Experience in RF Processing or Digital Communication
- Languages: C++, MATLAB, Python, FORTRAN, etc.
- Prototyping using GNU Radio, SDR#, SoapySDR, X-Midas, neXt-MIDAS, etc.
- Familiarity with machine learning development and best practices
- Data-centric problem formulation, data cleaning experience, and knowledge of classification, regression, and reinforcement learning
- Languages/libraries: TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Keras, Theano, PyTorch, Veles, etc.
- ML Ops tools and processes
- Experience with Air Force and/or NRO space programs
