Job Description : Our client is hiring a Senior Cloud and Platform Engineer - Observability (Splunk Focus). This pivotal role is essential to maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of our Observability product team. As we expand and mature our
Splunk platform to strengthen organizational insights, reliability, and performance, this engineer will play a critical role in architecting, scaling, and automating our Splunk environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about observability, automation, high availability, and developing high-quality code that empowers teams across the organization.
Responsibilities - Serve as a primary engineer supporting and advancing our enterprise Splunk platform-including architecture, deployment, scaling, instrumentation, performance optimization, and data onboarding
- Automate relentlessly, building pipelines and workflows that support CI/CD and improve platform reliability
- Develop and promote DevOps practices across the team
- Install, automate, and operate observability tools-especially Splunk-that empower developers and operations teams
- Design and maintain distributed systems with a clear understanding of dependencies and performance characteristics
- Monitor application and platform performance, ensuring critical Splunk metrics and dashboards are available to stakeholders
- Conduct and automate platform and application testing (functionality, availability, load/stress, performance)
- Troubleshoot development and production issues across multi-environment, multi-cloud platforms
- Participate in high-availability and disaster-recovery planning and testing for Splunk and related observability systems
- Create clear documentation for repeatable operations and self-service onboarding
- Contribute to a transparent, collaborative, trust-based team culture
- Mentor junior engineers and guide best practices in observability and automation
- Participate in an on-call rotation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills : - Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field
- 6+ years of software development experience
- 4+ years in operations or platform engineering
- Exceptional understanding of software engineering principles and coding practices
- Strong experience with automation, including building repeatable, reliable, self-service patterns
- Significant experience architecting, designing, and automating solutions in public cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure)
- Understanding of cloud principles and containerized environments
- Demonstrated experience with Splunk, including configuration, scaling, ingestion pipelines, index management, dashboarding, and performance tuning
- Experience with other observability technologies such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, Vault, Prometheus, Grafana, Kafka
- Familiarity with tools like Bitbucket, GitLab, Jenkins, Confluence
- Experience with Chef, Ansible, and CI/CD automation
- Strong understanding of core infrastructure (networking, storage, operating systems, VMs)
- Knowledge of modern architectures (Microservices, SOA, J2EE, ESB)
- Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work in an Agile environment
