The Director, Business Process Management & Automation is responsible for owning and executing upon a cohesive, enterprise-wide automation and business process management strategy with a demonstratable return on investment. Reporting to the Vice President of Business Alignment, the incumbent is expected to work across Business and IT teams to direct and oversee large-scale cross-functional automation and process management initiatives that deliver value to business partners, while ensuring alignment to broader corporate goals and strategy. This includes accountability for shaping, creating, and maintaining an advanced process management and automation solution portfolio leveraging BPM, RPA, intelligent automation, hyper automation, and other emerging technology solutions and methodologies. Soft skills are critical in this role; as such, the incumbent should have a strong ability to influence and lead diverse groups to achieve desired results, the ability to communicate effectively across organizational levels with various audiences, and a demonstrated ability to drive action and sustain momentum to achieve results.

  • Head responsibility to analyze, strategize, design, and support all automation and business process management applications and systems. Manage overall strategy and standards for automation and business process management by partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure automation initiatives are appropriately sequenced and connected across the enterprise roadmap. Work to modernize our existing tech stacks and unlock new capabilities (RPA, iOCR, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence, Hyper Automation, Operational Excellence approaches and methods - Lean agile delivery, DevOps, Lean thinking, Process excellence, System & Management Thinking). Develops scalable software solutions through management of a team of automation and process engineers.
  • Develop and implement key process improvement initiatives leveraging industry wide practices and tools via partnership with internal and external stakeholders Pursue new and innovative ways to create impactful solutions for our customers, as well as find opportunities to re-engineer existing solutions for greater efficiency and performance, including identification of opportunities for reuse of existing automation solutions. Develop industry standard best practices for process management, innovation and create an environment of continuous improvement. Develop program framework, governance structure, tools and templates for delivering cross functional process improvement initiatives. Contribute thought leadership around innovation, process design and engineering, process architectures and productivity tools. Provide guidance and insight into the use of BPM tools and process improvement methodologies
  • Create a culture of automation. Drive development and implementation of enterprise frameworks and strategic plans for automation, process improvement, process transformation, and process re-engineering methodologies and best practices. Embrace a mindset of growth and continuous improvement, including continually enhancing and refining standards, best practices, and processes; provide training, consulting, and governance to partners across the organization, and supporting them in delivering and operationalizing BPM and automation solutions with increasing efficiency and value.
  • Develop staff through coaching, timely performance feedback, and assessments. Ensure a constantly rising bar of technical excellence and professional growth. Ensure team members understand individual commitments as well as team and company goals, . Ensures that the team(s) has the right skills and capability to deliver; addresses gaps through reskilling and/or hiring. Ensure retention of top talent and identify methods for keeping high performers engaged and growing. Be aware of current and future market and technology developments inside and outside of the process management and automation space through offerings, white papers, blogs, upskilling and learning opportunities.


Education Level: Bachelor's Degree inComputer Science, Information Technology, or related field OR inlieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to therequired work experience.

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Six Sigma, Kaizen or comparable process improvement methodology certification
  • Lean certification
  • Operational Excellence

  • 8 years Related professional experience
  • 3 years Management experience

  • Represents the department in corporate initiatives and external professional meetings.
  • Effective leadership skills including change management, people development, strategic thinking and influencing.
  • Ability to translate high level departmental objectives into individual team member objectives and drive organization change.
  • Experience with various delivery methodologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience in professional and technical capabilities such as Automation (RPA, iOCR, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence), Operational Excellence approaches and methods (Lean agile delivery, DevOps, Lean thinking, Process excellence, System & Management Thinking).
  • Deep understanding of how automation tools (e.g., BPM, RPA, Desktop Solutions, OCR, ML/AI, etc.) can drive improved risk & resiliency, client experience and efficiency in solving business problems.
  • Ability to inspire and lead teams, and define vision and strategy and organizational change.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems, including application of Change Management skills.
  • Proficient in presenting information to various stakeholders.
