We are seeking FORWARD THINKERS to help define, visualize and communicate the value of new space systems and technologies.
As a leader in the emerging discipline of Model Based Systems Engineering, SAIC seeks to develop methods of presentation that are highly virtualized and visual that provides an interactive experience to the "audience" which could include any stakeholders up to the most senior decision makers. These goals will be achieved by combining the methods of computer gaming with high-fidelity engineering.
The Summer Intern team of game developers, computer scientists and engineers will collaborate and work closely with SAIC
Engineers and Subject Matter Experts and take part in various projects to support these efforts. By the end of the summer program, the intern team will produce a visual demonstration of analysis relevant to the U.S. Space Force. This will be presented to senior officers and management.
Overview:
Interns will support a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary effort under a contract supporting the U.S. Space Force. This contract is identifying future capabilities that the United States will require to maintain the safety and security of its national space capabilities.
What will you do?
Support US Space Force missions and take part in projects utilizing the technologies driving digital transformation. This includes Multi-security level data fusion, Cloud Migration, Software Integration, Big Data Science, Big Data Analytics, Digital Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering and 3D Visualization using latest gaming engine and virtual and augmented reality.
What will you learn?
Understanding of national space missions, satellite and mission analysis and the environment in which such satellites operate, while gaining exciting, real-world experience with space system applications, space superiority mission design and model based systems engineering.
Qualifications
Target salary range: $25,001 - $50,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.

- SAIC Summer Internships begin June, 2023 and are 10-week, paid, full time positions in El Segundo, CA
- Develop models spanning many areas of relevance, including communications, remote sensing, orbit dynamics, satellite design, and artificial intelligence.
- Perform space systems engineering tasks related to space system modeling, conducting mission scenario studies and performance trade analysis.
- Evaluate commercial spacecraft simulation applications for suitability for analyzing various space superiority scenarios.
- Support development of graphical user interfaces for interactive presentation of simulated scenarios.
- Develop the concept of operations, perform simulations and report results of how well simulation outcomes support mission objectives.
Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in a STEM Bachelors or Master's Degree Program such as: Engineering (Aerospace, Systems, Mechanical, Electrical or related) OR Science/Compute Science (Physics, Data Analytics, Astronomy or related)
- Must have minimum one semester remaining at the end of the 10 week internship
- Prior internship experience and/or working knowledge with programming languages such as Matlab, Python, C/C++
- Qualified candidates must be a U.S.
- Education in control systems design and/or Knowledge in machine learning or artificial intelligence
