Overview

Nightwing, a leading defense contracting company, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to lead our network engineering team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in network architecture and security, with specific expertise in NIST 800-53 and 800-171 standards, as well as modern SD-WAN and SASE principles.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of network engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Network Design & Implementation: Oversee the design, deployment, and optimization of network infrastructure, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and security standards.
Compliance Management: Ensure all network engineering practices comply with NIST 800-53 and 800-171 standards, including risk management and security controls.
SD-WAN & SASE Expertise: Implement and manage modern SD-WAN and SASE architectures to enhance network performance and security.
Project Management: Plan and execute network projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity, IT, and operations, to achieve strategic objectives.
Performance Monitoring: Establish metrics and KPIs to monitor network performance and reliability, making data-driven decisions for improvements.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures, providing regular reports to senior management.

Qualifications

Must have at least 8 years of related professional experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field OR 16 years of total related professional experience in lieu of a degree.
Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or CISSP are preferred.
Technical Skills:
o Deep knowledge of NIST 800-53 and 800-171 frameworks.
o Proficiency in SD-WAN and SASE technologies and principles.
o Experience with network security protocols and tools.
o Familiarity with cloud networking and integration.
Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
