Summary

The QA Test Engineer ensures the delivery of high-quality software by developing and maintaining automated test suites-primarily using Playwright-and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines. This role reduces release risk, improves test coverage, and ensures functional, regression, performance, and integration testing across applications, including Guidewire implementations. The engineer collaborates closely with product managers, developers, business analysts, IT, and operations to verify requirements, enhance testability, and maintain testing alignment with business goals.

The position requires hands-on automation expertise, strong documentation practices, CI/CD integration experience, Guidewire platform testing skills, and active participation in SAFe ceremonies. A successful candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, technically strong, and comfortable working in a fast-paced Agile/SAFe environment.

Responsibilities

Automation & Testing

  • Develop, maintain, and execute automated tests using Playwright
  • Design and validate functional, regression, and edge-case test scenarios
  • Implement data-driven testing strategies for broad coverage
  • Conduct API testing and backend validations
  • Testing experience with Guidewire implementations (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter)
  • Understanding of Guidewire architecture, integrations, ratings and configurations
  • Ability to validate data migrations, upgrades, and platform customizations

CI/CD Integration

  • Integrate automated tests into:
    • Gitlab and Bitbucket Pipelines
  • Configure automated execution pipelines and troubleshoot failures
  • Monitor reliability of automated test runs

Quality & Code Review

  • Participate in code reviews for both application and test code
  • Provide testability feedback during story development
  • Ensure test suites follow automation best practices and coding standards

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with product managers and business analysts to understand requirements
  • Partner with developers to clarify functionality and improve coverage
  • Communicate test results, defects, risks, and quality metrics to stakeholders
