The selected individual will conduct analysis, modeling, and simulations to design and evaluate communication systems, signals, and signal processing algorithms. Your technical leadership for projects success is essential and will help shape the future of communication of space systems and the organization's capabilities.
This role can be in a hybrid work model which offers partially remote and onsite work required in El Segundo, California.

What You'll Be Doing
- Lead or execute projects involving
- Physical and link-layer communication
- Communication systems engineering
- Communication waveform design and performance analysis
- Sophisticated communication system simulations
- Satellite payload hardware design and evaluation
- Space and terrestrial communication system architectures
- Provide expert technical advice on satellite communication systems and waveforms
- Leverage technical acumen and customer relationships to develop new projects
- Mentor junior engineers and manage execution of small projects
- Develop and lead interdisciplinary teams
- Develop, propose, and lead research & development (R&D) projects
- Provide expert technical advice to customers, contractors, managers, and cross-functional teams.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements
- After beginning with Aerospace, the selected candidate will be in for a Top-Secret Level Security and SCI access. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.
- Ten or more years of experience using MATLAB, Python, or C++ to design, analyze and implement communication system simulations
- An expert-level understanding of communication systems theory, including modulation, coding, and synchronization
- An expert-level understanding of communication waveforms, channels, and link performance
- Degree from an accredited university in engineering, science, or mathematics.
- Demonstrated ability to translate vague concepts into practical, well-defined technical plans
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and mentor engineers
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex topics clearly to a broad audience, write technical reports, and interact constructively across interdisciplinary and inter-organizational teams
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering, science, or mathematics, with advanced academic work in communication systems and signal processing.
- Experience with modern software development practices for code design, documentation, programming, testing such as Agile, DevOps, Confluence, version control, or database management
- Expertise in commercial wireless standards, GPS/GNSS, anti-jam, anti-scintillation, or LPI/LPD
- Knowledge of machine learning and its application to communication systems
- Experience with prototype development, especially with software-defined radios (SDRs)
- In-depth practical experience with the space industry, including commercial space, Space Force, and the Intelligence Community
- Demonstrated experience in project management and proposal development
- Strong systems engineering knowledge, including the development and flow-down of requirements
- An active Top Secret clearance with SSBI.
