Job Description
The Mayo Clinic Special Purpose Processor Development Group (SPPDG) is seeking experienced engineers interested in a two-year limited tenure position to gain familiarity with various research and development (R&D) activities. Responsibilities for this position include setting up Software Defined Radio (SDR) configurations for evaluation and analysis. The SDR configurations include various modern modulation and demodulation approaches to evaluate low-energy healthcare Internet of Things wireless communications. This role includes identifying available modulation and demodulation software supported by the SDR platforms, integrating externally-developed demodulators and detectors.
The Special Purpose Processor Development Group (SPPDG) is a research group within Mayo Clinic, comprised of electronics hardware, software, and firmware engineers supporting a variety of design, analysis, and testing efforts.
As part of this R&D team, the candidate would perform increasingly complex electronics engineering functions including theoretical development, conceptualization, design, implementation, simulation, software, assembly, test, or analysis. Limited travel may be required.
Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university, and minimum of 4 years of post-graduate engineering experience.
Therefore visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Successful candidates are electrical or computer engineers with a background in design, implementation, and analysis of digital communications systems and data processing associated with software defined radio (SDR) collections and other communication data analysis tasks. Familiarity with developing embedded C/C++ code is required. Experience designing algorithms and analyzing data in the Python ecosystem is preferred.
