Description: Our client is currently seeking a Transport Network Engineer in Irvine, CA.
This job will have the following responsibilities:
- Responsible for network transport design in the SoCal market.
- Candidate will: - Work with dark fiber providers in order to support the quick and efficient deployment of Fiber circuits.
- Issue transport bids for circuits in TESS (small cell, macro and backhaul) -
- Manage Performance and Utilization for existing circuits and plan upgrades accordingly.
- Design base station to MSC backhaul and inter-MSC transport via multiple vendors, lit and dark services, microwave and Ethernet technologies.
- Design network transport supporting trunking as well as direct connect trunking with other carriers.
- Provide Circuit Facility Assignments for ordering of new cellular location circuits using least cost routing techniques.
- Provide network design using a thorough knowledge of SONET based applications including OC3 through OC192 ring configurations.
- Track network projects as it pertains to the facilities team such as Path Diversification, Cost reduction Initiatives, Cell Availability Evaluations, Equipment decommissioning, Facility migration, etc.
- Design and maintain path, switch, and vendor diversity where economically justified; devise routing schemes as required to prevent blocked calls; analyze traffic rearrangements associated with landline tandem rehomes and internal switch cutovers; and create facility and equipment plans to accommodate changes.
- Produce facility forecasts to accommodate the trunk forecast and project equipment requirements for switches, microwave sites, and MSCs; and communicates capacity requirements internally to drive capital budget and planning for equipment and facilities.
- Negotiate with LEC, IXC and CAP carriers for service. Microsoft Office Suites is essential.
- Candidate should: - Have expertise working with Nortel, Cisco, or Alcatel-Lucent DWDM and router equipment. - Have expertise in Ethernet backhaul, 3G, 4G and 5G networks - Understand tariff regulations and have the ability to develop Excel models or manipulate software to determine least cost routing is required. - Be comfortable working on / supporting large network projects such as cell build program, frequency carrier add growth, EVDO expansion, hardware conversions, Fiber to Cell initiatives, E911, Long Distance, and future IP based technologies. - Have excellent Granite (Xng / Xpercom) skills - Have a working knowledge of SiteTraker - Have 5 to 7 years of experience.
