Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, functional Product Owner who serves as a Salesforce application Subject Matter Expert (SME)—not a developer. This role owns initiatives across billing, invoicing, payments, and collections, partnering closely with business, engineering, and integrations teams to drive delivery and resolve complex, end-to-end issues across multiple concurrent workstreams.
This position requires deep “hands-to-keyboard” Salesforce experience, strong analytical and discovery skills, and the ability to troubleshoot production issues across Salesforce, integrations, and payment providers.
Key Responsibilities
Own and prioritize the backlog for finance and commerce capabilities; translate business processes into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
Lead discovery with stakeholders on invoice formats, billing logic, payment methods and terms, e-invoicing requirements, tax touchpoints, branding, and multilingual invoice lines.
Drive end-to-end testing efforts, including data sourcing, scenario design, log analysis, defect triage, and release readiness.
Investigate and resolve payment issues (e.g., declines) by tracing flows across Salesforce → integrations → payment processors/orchestrators.
Determine configuration vs. code changes and partner with Engineering, Integrations, QA, and Release teams on sequencing and delivery.
Manage multiple parallel initiatives, risks, and dependencies while maintaining institutional application knowledge and roadmap awareness.
Coach teammates and elevate product ownership and operational best practices.
Required Experience & Skills
5–7+ years in a Product Owner, Business Systems Analyst, or similar role with hands-on Salesforce functional experience.
Strong experience with Salesforce Revenue Cloud, Billing, Order Management, Commerce Cloud, Sales Cloud, and/or Service Cloud (Revenue Cloud preferred).
Deep domain knowledge in billing, invoicing, payments, collections, and cash application, including invoice templates (PDF/digital), payment methods and terms, and global considerations.
Familiarity with e-invoicing, tax-related touchpoints, multilingual and branded invoice lines, and address validation.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues by reading logs, validating data, tracing integrations, and coordinating resolution with technical teams.
Strong communication and leadership skills; able to run effective discovery sessions, ask incisive questions, and drive decisions in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
