Description
SAIC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Improved Data Modem (IDM) Open Systems Remanufacture (OSR) effort in Huntsville, AL. This position will focus on the development, documentation, and maintenance of the Technical Data Package (TDP). The ideal candidate will possess experience in mechanical design, technical documentation, and system integration, with an extensive understanding of IDM hardware and the associated mechanical components. Candidate's primary tasks are the following.
- Develop TDP: Create and maintain a comprehensive TDP, including mechanical drawings, specifications, and other essential documents.
- Design and Engineering Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Electrical, Software, and Systems Engineers) to ensure the mechanical design meets the performance, reliability, and environmental requirements of the IDM OSR.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all mechanical design elements meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
- Prototype and Testing Support: Provide mechanical design support during the prototyping phase and assist with testing and validation of hardware to verify design assumptions and performance metrics.
- Change Management: Manage design changes, ensuring that all revisions to the TDP are properly documented and communicated across all relevant teams.
- Manufacturing Interface: Act as the liaison between design teams and manufacturing, ensuring smooth transition from design to production, and support the fabrication process as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed reports, technical documentation, and drawings for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
- Bachelors degree and nine (9) years' experience; six (6) additional years experience can be considered in lieu of degree (per contract vehicle).
Clearance Requirements:
- Must possess an active Secret security clearance; ship required.
Required Skills:
- Must have experience developing TDPs.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong background in Mechanical Engineering to include design elements.
