What to Expect

Battery Cells are the common denominator for every Tesla product. Our product requirements necessitate ground-up cell architectures with state-of-the-art performance, manufactured at volumes that are orders of magnitude higher than the products they power. We are looking for passionate and self-motivated candidates to join us in our fast-paced and exciting mission. Our team works with engineering groups across various disciplines, requiring strong communication skills and a team-first mentality. You will work alongside seasoned industry experts, high aptitude entry level candidates, and people from every stage in between. We look for anyone with an exceptional ability to solve problems in both individual and team settings.

In this role you will work on cell qualification test protocol development and validation to evaluate performance and lifetime across different cell chemistries and use cases. You will coordinate the development of code to execute on test samples with a partner test engineer or technician in test labs around the world. Additionally, this engineer will review the quality of all new test data with test owners and data engineers to ensure our schedules collect the required information and that they can be used for required calculations.

What You?ll Do

  • Work with cell engineers to define and document test requirements.
  • Aid in the development of new cell test protocols to enable next-generation cell control strategies in products.
  • Own cell-level test plans to characterize cell properties needed for setting cell specifications and control algorithms.
  • Analyze test results to assess quality of data collected to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Work with data engineers to create smooth data pipeline for requirement owners on a global scale.
  • Coordinate the development of code to execute on test hardware and test samples with a partner test engineer or technician in one of the test labs around the world.

What You?ll Bring

  • Understanding of lithium-ion cell chemistry and electrochemistry fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of electrical test equipment used in battery cell testing or equivalent.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and methods, propose design of experiments, and execute independently.
  • Some coding experience preferred.
