Job Overview:
- The Application Developer will work as part of the technical team to modernize and enhance legacy administrative systems migrated to the State IT Data Center.
- This role focuses on upgrading application platforms, enhancing system functionality, ensuring security compliance, and supporting modernization efforts aligned with state technology standards and enterprise architecture goals.
- The ideal candidate will be capable of hands-on development, system remediation, platform migration, and collaboration with SMEs, business users, and project leadership.
- This position requires flexibility to support production deployments and system rollouts that may occur outside standard business hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in modernization, remediation, and migration of legacy administrative systems to updated platform environments (ASP.NET MVC/.NET Core).
- Develop, configure, enhance, test, and document complex applications following SDLC and agency standards.
- Modify applications to comply with IT security requirements, policy standards, and system architecture direction.
- Diagnose and resolve software issues, provide Tier 2 support, and ensure uptime for mission-critical applications.
- Migrate systems and functionality from older environments to newer state-approved platforms following best practices.
- Ensure compatibility across major web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.).
- Update database connection configurations to support migration from DB2 to SQL.
- Implement new system functionality to retire mainframe forms and optimize backend workflows.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and solution design specs.
- Ensure all code is version controlled through Git and compliant with state IT development standards.
- Plan and coordinate development milestones and deliverables with internal IT and business project stakeholders.
- Provide project updates, contribute to system design discussions, and assist in policy development related to cybersecurity.
- Follow state information security frameworks including NIST 800-53, FISMA, and security compliance policies.
