Job Details

This is a full-time direct hire position and you must currently have an active Secret Security Clearance or above. We are not able to offer visa sponsorship, 1099 status, or work with C2C for this role.

What will you be doing?

The selected candidate will support and manage engineering projects related to revolutionizing the USACE IT infrastructure. This position will define project scope and objectives and develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, status reports and project deliverables for all engineering requests. Collaborates with engineering team, Operations team, and various levels of leadership on engineering projects and tasks. Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems.

What will you be doing?

The selected candidate will work on engineering projects related to revolutionizing the USACE infrastructure. This position will define project scope and objectives and develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, status reports and project deliverables for network related engineering requests. Provides technical and analytical guidance to enterprise engineering team and enterprise operations. Collaborates with and assists the Network architect and engineering team on other engineering projects and tasks. Participates in high-level enterprise architecture analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, and development. Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate openly and frankly with all internal and external partners, such as Government Engineers, Contractor Engineers, Contractor Operations staff, Management, and 3rd party vendors
  • Work independently, including the self-management of projects. Help others and ask for help without hesitation.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all Engineering Service Requests, removing any obstacles to completing work as scheduled
  • Perform risk analysis of each Engineering Service Request, and inform all stakeholders of the applicable risks
  • Provide technical input and guidance on the Networking needs of all software and hardware used in the Corps of Engineers environment, which includes, in part, products by Cisco, F5, Distributed switches, Check Point, Microsoft, Symantec, McAfee, Computer Associates, BMC, etc., and the integration of new Networking products within the Corps of Engineers environment
  • Provide technical guidance for other network Engineers within the team
  • Provide guidance to enterprise operations on technical solutions and provide Tier 4 support
  • Collaborate with the Network Architect to develop the Technology Refresh Plan, and the Capacity and Demand Management Plan for the environment s Networking area, in accordance with the Technology Target Architecture, and in collaboration with the Government Engineering team, Enterprise Operations team, and fellow contractor engineers
  • Perform detailed market research, develop Bills of Materials for Government consumption
  • Assist with, or design new implementations of the Network stack, and after Information Assurance review, coordinate the installation of them with the DevOps Engineer, Enterprise Operations, and relevant stakeholders
  • Document Network architecture, including network port connectivity, and design choices of the associated applications (Low Level Design, High Level Design). Develop or update As-Built documentation
  • Integrate Network systems into the enterprise Configuration Management Database
  • Automate facets of the Network environment, including deployment, SSL certificate monitoring/requests, patching and upgrades in coordination with DevOps Engineers
  • Provide secure, reliable, and high performing configurations of the Network environments
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Interim Secret Clearance required prior to start
  • Engineer will possess a CISSP or CASP certification or obtain one within 6 months of hire
  • At least 14 years job experience in a related field
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent, plus proven experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Working technical knowledge of network control protocols (QOS, PfR, PoE, NTP, DHCP), network management protocols (CDP, FTP, TFTP, SNMP) and security protocols (SSH, HTTPS, AAA, IPSec).
  • Strong knowledge of IP communication and routing is required (OSPF, BGP)
  • Understanding of WAN/LAN transport technologies (Ethernet, DMVPN, MPLS)
  • Experience with SDN/SDWAN solutions
