Position Summary:
We are seeking a Workday Payroll Operational Expert to support our new Wave 2 Entities in ensuring accurate, efficient, and compliant payroll operations. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Workday Payroll processes, strong analytical skills, and the ability to provide both strategic and operational support. This role will also play a key part in knowledge transfer, documentation, and testing activities related to payroll systems and integrations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support bi-weekly payroll processing within Workday, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Provide strategic and operational guidance to improve payroll processes and system efficiency.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for payroll processes and facilitate knowledge transfer sessions.
- Manage EIB uploads and data validation within Workday.
- Perform manual payroll adjustments, including parking, rent, benefits, and other one-off items.
- Monitor and resolve ServiceNow payroll tickets in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot payroll issues related to earnings, deductions, retirement plans, and taxation.
- Execute and review payroll audit reports both pre- and post-payroll cycles.
- Participate in testing and validation of Workday-delivered changes and Montefiore-specific system updates.
- Understand and support payroll posting processes and general ledger integrations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 5 years of hands-on experience in Workday Payroll operations.
- Proven experience with EIB uploads, payroll adjustments, and payroll audits.
- Strong understanding of U.S. payroll regulations, deductions, and tax compliance.
- Experience using ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems preferred.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in supporting payroll implementations or multi-entity transitions (e.g., Wave 2 entities).
- Familiarity with Montefiore systems or similar healthcare organization payroll processes.
- Strong Excel and reporting skills.
