Role: NOC Technician
Location: Portland, OR (Hybrid)
Position Type: Contract to Hire
Hourly Rate: $35-44/hr
We are seeking a Network Operations Specialist to join a fast-paced Network Operations Center (NOC) team supporting mission-critical network infrastructure and customer services. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong troubleshooting skills and experience supporting service provider or carrier network environments.
This position follows a hybrid schedule with onsite presence required in Portland, OR a minimum of 3 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and support customer and core network infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and resolve network outages, service degradation, and connectivity issues
- Support technologies including:
- Ethernet
- IP Routing & Switching
- MPLS/VPLS
- SIP & UCaaS
- Wireless & Security Services
- Fiber Optic Networks
- Respond to and manage network alarms and incidents through monitoring tools
- Coordinate restoration efforts with internal teams, vendors, field technicians, and customers
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and document outage details
- Lead and support scheduled maintenance activities
- Maintain accurate ticketing and operational documentation
- Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation
Qualifications
- 2+ years of networking or NOC experience
- Experience supporting service provider or carrier environments preferred
- Knowledge of:
- BGP
- OSPF
- IPv4/IPv6
- VLANs
- QoS
- MPLS
- SIP/Voice technologies
- Understanding of network troubleshooting and diagnostic processes
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Experience with network monitoring and ticketing systems preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a 24x7x365 NOC environment
- Exposure to DWDM, Carrier Ethernet, SONET, or fiber networks
- Nokia NRS I certification
- Bachelor's degree in Networking, Telecommunications, or related field
Schedule & On-Call
This role supports a 24/7 operational environment and may require additional support during outages or maintenance windows.
