Position: Help Desk Support Technician SME Level
Duration: 6 -8 Months
Location: On-Site - Jackson, MS
Project Objective:
- MDE is modernizing its Student Information System and enhancing data quality in connected platforms to enable a World-Class Data System that supports improved student outcomes. This effort includes web-based application development, dashboards, and data reporting systems aimed at making accurate data more accessible to stakeholders.
Position Summary:
- The Mississippi Department of Education seeks a Help Desk Support Technician (SME Level) to serve as the first point of contact for end users seeking IT support. This on-site role requires strong technical troubleshooting capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to support a wide variety of systems and software.
- The selected candidate will provide both remote and in-person support and will maintain detailed records in alignment with MDE's support protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the initial point of contact for all IT support requests from end users.
- Provide remote and onsite support for:
- Microsoft 365 (M365) Applications
- Desktop/laptop troubleshooting
- Software installations and configurations
- Peripheral device and hardware setup
- Basic Active Directory tasks
- Deliver support through remote assistance tools and platforms.
- Track, update, and maintain detailed help desk records following established support procedures.
- Prioritize and manage multiple issues simultaneously while ensuring timely resolution.
- Communicate effectively with users, peers, and supervisors in a professional and courteous manner.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in each of the following:
- Working in a Help Desk environment
- Providing support for Microsoft 365 (M365) Applications
- Offering remote assistance using platforms such as TeamViewer, AnyDesk, Remote Desktop, etc.
- Troubleshooting desktop/laptop hardware and performing software installations
- Hardware implementation and deployment (printers, monitors, docking stations, etc.)
- Performing basic Active Directory management (password resets, account unlocks, user creation, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- Microsoft O365 expertise
- Experience using BMC FootPrints Help Desk system
Experience supporting Mac OS environments
Compensation
Compensation for roles at Beacon Systems Inc depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, BeaconGov provides reasonable range of compensation for this role.
