Microsoft Desktop Engineer

Fully REMOTE but MUST reside in either CT, Washington DC, Southern FLA, MA, RI, NY, or NJ.

Responsibilities:

  • MECM Administration: Manage and maintain MECM infrastructure, including deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting. Perform Software Packaging tasks in preparation for deployment via Microsoft Configuration Manager.

  • Modern Workplace: Assists with Microsoft Modern Workplace solutions, including Intune and Microsoft 365.

  • Desktop Management: Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Windows desktops and laptops. Responsible for the overall design, installation and integration of IT Desktop solutions throughout the enterprise.

  • Software Deployment: Plan, test, and deploy software updates, patches, and applications using MECM. Recommends, schedules, and performs software improvements and upgrades for optimal performance

  • Security Compliance: Ensure all desktop systems comply with security policies and standards.

  • Technical Support: Provide advanced technical support for desktop-related issues, including hardware and software troubleshooting.

  • Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline desktop management tasks.

  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of desktop configurations, processes, and procedures.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of desktop systems.

  • Peripheral Management: Manage printers, scanners, and other office devices.

  • Asset Management: Asset inventory and lifecycle management

  • Training: Mentor and train junior desktop engineers and support staff.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in desktop engineering, with at least 3 years specializing in MECM.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with Office 365.

  • Network Configuration: Basic understanding of DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and LAN/WAN troubleshooting.

  • Minimum 2 years of peripheral management experience with printers, scanners, and other office devices

  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing asset inventory and lifecycles.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills technical and logical.

  • Ability to multitask and bring assigned tasks to completion under little supervision.

  • Experience interacting with users to resolve support tickets.

  • Packaging and deploying applications in a Citrix environment a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows 10, Windows 11).

  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell scripting.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate.

  • Experience: Experience with virtualization technologies Citrix, Hyper-V, cloud services (Azure, AWS) and DevOps.
