Note: Need Independent consultants with 10+ years of experience.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute database migrations from SQL Server 2012/2016 to SQL Server 2020/2022.
- Develop migration strategies, including pre-migration analysis, testing, and post-migration validation.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate migration tasks, backups, and system monitoring.
- Document migration processes, DR test results, and performance improvement strategies.
- Plan and calibrate downtimes required for migrations to minimize business impact.
- Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover
- Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
- Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and resource utilization.
- Enhance operational efficiency through automation of routine DBA tasks.
- Manage SQL Server clusters with active/passive and read/write nodes.
- Implement and support Always-On Availability Groups for high availability.
- Conduct Disaster Recovery (DR) tests, document results, and ensure proper replication configurations.
- Configure and manage monitoring tools, particularly Nagios, to ensure database health and proactive issue resolution.
- Respond to alerts and incidents promptly to minimize downtime.
- Restore and recover corrupted databases
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive, high reliability database operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- Ability to interact with clients in a professional, articulate manner
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Expertise with setup, administration and optimization of SQL Server clustering and replication.
- Expertise in SQL Server clustering (active/passive, read/write configurations) and Always-On Availability Groups
- Proven experience migrating databases from SQL Server 2012/2016 to 2020/2022.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting to automate database tasks and processes.
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and optimizing SQL Server performance issues.
- Strong experience in disaster recovery (DR) planning, testing, replication, and documentation.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Nagios for alert configuration and response.
- Comprehensive Windows Server operating system administration skills
- Proven ability to work with developers, testers, and other ops engineers through the product lifecycle
- Microsoft certification (MCDBA, MCTS : SQL, MCSA, MCITP, MCM : SQL, MCA or other certification relevant to this job description) is a plus
