Sr. Full-Stack Java Developer (15489)

Based in Pittsburgh, PA - Hybrid

Join our Corporate Technology Non-Financial Risk team as a Sr. Full-Stack Java Developer. In this position, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining Java/Spring-based microservices that drive our platform to meet current and strategic customer needs. You would also be developing Angular-based front-end components with which our stakeholders interact with daily.

You will work with fellow services and front-end developers to ensure a robust and highly scalable distributed capability that is fault-tolerant and highly efficient. As a Senior member of the team, you will be expected to drive technology research, adoption, and innovation, to ensure the platform remains current, while providing technical guidance and mentoring to more junior developers. This is a great opportunity for a self-starter and a leader to design, develop and execute on changes and enhancements to our Non-Financial Risk Data Vault Program.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required
  • 8-12 years of experience in software development required
  • Strong hands full stack developer experience with technologies including UI, Angular, databases, such as Relational, NoSQL and Java including RESTful Webservices, Spring/Spring Boot, Docker/Containers, etc.
  • Previous hands-on experience coding and building enterprise level applications and leading a global team
  • Appreciation for non-functional requirements: performance, scalability, testability
  • Experience with CI/CD practices including automated unit/integration/regression tests, Jenkins, Maven, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of relational database and NoSQL
  • Familiarity with Big Data solutions, Apache, Hadoop, Apache Spark.
  • Ability to work individually as well as a part of the team with minimum to no supervision.
  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

Preferred Skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, responsive and proactive.
  • Knows how to take the ownership of a system.
  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of the different architectures, infrastructure and networking involved.
  • The successful candidate is expected to maintain knowledge of current technology trends and updates to domain, through self-directed research, engagement with technical forums, summits, conferences, or similar activities


BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $89,500 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
