    Job Summary

    The Vehicle Systems Division (VSD) sits at the center of the ideas and data behind current and future systems supplying innovative research and development; technical evaluations during the acquisition process; conceptual and detailed design; assembly, integration, and test; and operational support. Comprised primarily of highly-trained mechanical and aerospace engineers, VSD provides national expertise in the areas of vehicle engineering; guidance, navigation, and controls; robotics; electro-mechanical devices; embedded systems; fluid mechanics; propulsion; thermal control; orbital mechanics; mechanisms; structures; structural dynamics; and dynamic environments.

    The Vehicle Engineering Department is part of the Vehicle Systems Division, the premier satellite and launch vehicle technical organization within the Aerospace Corporation. We are seeking an Electrical Engineer who is inquisitive, motivated, has outstanding technical skills, and has uncompromising technical integrity and objectivity to contribute to our growing team in the Vehicle Actualization Section. The Actualization section is responsible for Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) for multiple spacecraft programs, project management, and generalist spacecraft engineering. In this position you will act as technical authority and will lead interfaces between customers' and Aerospace technical staff and management.

    This is a full-time position based in El Segundo, CA or at our Chantilly, VA location, offering a hybrid work model that combines regular onsite work and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.

    This position is available as a Senior Member of Technical Staff or Engineering Specialist

    What You'll Be Doing
    • You will provide spacecraft engineering support to multiple programs in Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T), project management, and generalist spacecraft engineering
    • S/he will oversee subsystem and system level acquisition, design, integration and test activities for space vehicles and vehicle interfaces to launch vehicle and ground
    • Support design, development, unit qualification, unit manufacture, test and integration efforts across multiple disciplines
    • Provide technical leadership in identifying, mitigating, and solving applicable satellite and subsystem risks and issues
    • Develop and maintain strong, effective working relationships with internal and external customers and contractor counterparts
    • You will lead the ETG (Engineering and Technology Group) efforts for test data evaluation, requirement verification reviews and anomaly resolutions
    • Generate and deliver written reports, risk assessments, recommendations, and presentations to the customer and Aerospace management


    What You Need to be Successful

    Minimum Requirements:

    Sr. Member of Technical Staff
    • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent
    • Typically, a minimum of (5) years of experience in one or more of the following areas: electrical design, power systems, energy storage, cable/harness design, ground support equipment, test support equipment, environmental testing
    • Conduct detailed technical analyses and apply knowledge independently with minimal guidance
    • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, Aerospace and contractor personnel
    • Experience writing technical documentation and giving technical presentations
    • Willingness to occasionally travel and to work off-business hours to support customer needs
    • Current and active Top Secret/SCI security clearance issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance


    Engineering Specialist

    Same requirements as a Sr. Member of Technical Staff noted above, in addition to:
    • Typically, a minimum of (8) years of experience in one or more of the following areas: electrical design, power systems, energy storage, cable/harness design, ground support equipment, test support equipment, environmental testing
    • Experience leading technical evaluations, anomaly resolution, and requirement verification efforts
    • Demonstrate technical leadership and ability to frequently interact with customers, Aerospace, and contractor personnel


    How You Can Stand Out

    It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
    • Advanced degree in a STEM field or equivalent
    • Experience in one or more of the following areas: electrical integration and testing, test hardware/software, electrical design, power systems, ground support equipment (electrical, mechanical, optical, test, etc.), mechanical design and analysis
    • Experience working across multiple engineering disciplines
    • Knowledge of satellite test standards and Aerospace mission assurance
    • Knowledge of Aerospace's Engineering and Technology Group's capabilities and demonstrated interaction with their personnel

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

    $70,000 - $105,000 - $185,000
