Microsoft Data Engineer/Administrator

We are looking for a Microsoft Data Engineer/Administrator. This is a full-time On-site/hybrid, permanent hire position in Raleigh, NC with our client. In this role as a Microsoft Data Engineer / Administrator, you will interact with stakeholders to analyze, explain, design, and develop new data services and capabilities supporting the enable company's business to take data driven decisions. No visa sponsorship available at this time or in the future with this position.

Responsibilities as a Microsoft Data Engineer/Administrator:

• Able to create and articulate both logical and physical data model designs and application processing impacts
• Installs, supports, upgrades, and maintains Microsoft SQL Server database environments from version 2017 and later
• Supports database best practices relative to tuning, object creation, monitoring, security, logging, and auditing techniques while sharing knowledge and collaborating with others in IT to deliver effective application solutions in a solid operational environment
• May participate in application design reviews to ensure data architecture design meets business needs and identified standards
• Inclined to learn new technology stacks, experience with Azure and leveraging Azure for ETL processes is a plus
• Be customer oriented, and provide data and support to business partners as necessary
• Assist in developing best BI and data services deployment practices such as Azure Data Factories and Azure CI/CD pipelines, including development, governance and maintenance
• Propose and roll out improvements to culture, process, tools, technology, and architecture
• Mentor and provide assistance with Power BI to partners across the organization
• Participate in designing and implementing RESTful services and microservices

Required Skills for a Microsoft Data Engineer/Administrator:

• 3+ years of experience in database administration duties
• Experience creating, deploying, and supporting Power BI data products
• Advanced level of SQL programming
• Experience with ETL tools such as Pentaho
• Experience with Azure Data Analytics Architecture preferred
• Experience working with data sourced from REST and/or SOAP APIs preferred
• Intermediate knowledge of R or Python preferred
• Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel
• Can both work collaboratively with teams and excels being a contributor
• Proven ability to work across all functions and levels of the organization to improve financial and/or operational results
• Comfortable challenging business partners in a constructive way, including members of the Executive Management Team
• Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or Business Field with emphasis in Information Technology
