Job Description
An innovative global automotive company working on their hybrid eVTOL has reached the next step in development and requires a Real-Time Simulation and Software Engineer onsite in North Carolina. You will help this multidisciplinary team succeed by leading the offline and real-time simulation development for the eVTOL vehicle.
Responsibilities:
- Take full responsibility and work independently of the real time simulation facility.
- Establish processes and standards to support the eVTOL simulation and model-based VMS software development.
- Develop the simulation architectures and configuration control of models.
- Define and control flight simulator configuration, select and work with suppliers.
- Provide subject matter expert level technical leadership, mentoring and guidance on both practical and theoretical aspects of aerospace simulations and flight simulators.
- Support managing the simulation scheduling, budget, and resources.
- Support development, validation, and verification of simulation models.
- Working together with different engineering teams and suppliers.
- Track and report status to ensure milestones are met in support of the overall program schedule.

- In-depth knowledge of Matlab/Simulink offline and real-time simulations, either in commercially available environments or custom environments
- Familiarity with typical real-time / hardware in the loop (HIL) platforms, such as dSPACE, SpeedGoat or equivalent.
- Must be able to demonstrate a clear understanding, knowledge, and ability to develop aircraft simulations, and optimize real-time simulations.
- Experience in integrating real-time flight simulators (pilot-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop) – visual systems, inceptors, HIL interfaces.
- Experience in model-based software development in accordance with, ARP4754A, DO-178C and DO-331.
- Deep understanding of communication standards and protocols (RS-422/485, CAN, ARINC-429, AFDX, Ethernet, TCP/IP, USB, etc.).
- Experience in version control – Bitbucket / Git / SVN and issue tracking – Jira or equivalent.
