Ledgent Technology is looking for a Director of Manufacturing Engineering with the below background:
Title: Director of Manufacturing Engineering
Location: Hayward, CA
Direct Hire
The Director will lead manufacturing engineering activities in the production of products and materials used with high-value semiconductors, optoelectronics, data storage, and medical components optical systems, within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Manage a team of mostly mechanical engineers to drive long-term continuous improvement initiatives targeted towards automation deployment, quality improvement; scrap reduction; cost-savings, and process improvement projects including sustaining the released manufacturing processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Drives performance of direct reports and assigns work as appropriate to accomplish goals. Includes responsibility for the hiring, training, performance evaluations, employee motivation, and discipline of assigned employees.
* Effectively manages multiple projects simultaneously with cross-functional teams, system integrators, and suppliers to drive critical projects independently and as part of a team, within agreed-upon timelines.
* Evaluates the manufacturing processes, equipment, and procedures, identifying areas for improvement, and successfully implementing changes to improve efficiency and quality. Uses root cause analysis (RCA) and other tools to improve yield, and production efficiency, and resolve assigned RMAs/Complaints/SCARs. Responsible for initiating, designing, validating, and implementing improvements.
* Lead the design, development, qualification, and deployment of automated equipment. This includes ROI analysis, system design, project management, and IQ/OQ/PQ.
* Responsible for overseeing qualification and implementation of new processes, materials, and products into manufacturing. This includes an interface with R&D team, driving completion of assigned NPI action items, and successful NPI project transfer to Manufacturing. Effectively use DFM and DFQ techniques during NPI process for successful high-volume production. Works with customers as necessary to define and document product and process requirements for new products not requiring R&D. Additionally manages the engineering change request and related implementation processes with suppliers and Contract Manufacturers (CMs).
* Drives Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) program to ensure that equipment required for manufacturing is kept properly maintained and downtime is minimized. Must be able to provide technical guidance to diagnose and repair equipment electro/mechanical issues within limits.
* Participates in the establishment of operational KPIs and product line goals. Monitors progress and advise management team. Ensures compliance with approved production methods and quality standards, machine performance, and safety. Supports quality systems to enable standardized production.
* Experience with ERP/MES systems to understand and use transaction data to improve the manufacturing process.
* Demonstrates extensive experience with the application of problem-solving techniques, DOEs, and Lean Manufacturing tools.
* Relies on experience, judgment, and creativity, along with standard concepts, practices, and procedures, to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks.
* Demonstrated experience working with system integrators, CMs, and suppliers
Essential Education and Training Requirements
* Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline; Masters a plus.
* 5+ years of experience supporting a manufacturing organization, including 2+ years of experience in leading an engineering team
* Strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English, multi-lingual a plus
* Strong computer skills including MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Strong analytical problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and ability to communicate complex concepts clearly at all levels, internally and externally
* Strong people skills with the ability to communicate and interface positively and influence other team members and departments.
* Excellent project management skills: familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or Manufacturing Execution System (MES) experience is preferred
