Job Summary

Seeking a highly experienced Java Architect to design, build, and optimize large-scale distributed systems and microservices.

The ideal candidate will architect end-to-end enterprise solutions, provide technical leadership, and ensure alignment between IT architecture and business strategy.

This is a full onsite role in Albany, NY requiring strong hands-on and leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Architectural Leadership

• Architect end-to-end enterprise solutions across distributed and host-based environments.
• Define, communicate, and advocate technology strategy, architecture standards, policies, and guidelines.
• Ensure architectural alignment with business goals and enterprise strategy.
• Lead, mentor, and guide teams to deliver high-quality products on time.
• Ensure conceptual and technical completeness of delivered solutions.

Technical Responsibilities

• Architect, design, implement, and maintain large-scale distributed Java applications and microservices.
• Solve complex problems related to high-performance, scalable distributed systems.
• Support all architectural disciplines and champion architecture-driven initiatives.
• Review business processes and define metrics to improve efficiency and performance.
• Collaborate with project managers and tech leads to ensure architecture alignment with project goals.
• Consult on modifying enterprise architecture when needed to fit project needs.
• Communicate software vision, features, and architectural direction to product, executive, and engineering teams.

Collaboration & Execution

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure strategic alignment across the organization.
• Promote enterprise architecture (EA) processes, outcomes, and best practices.
• Provide direction on technology plans and overall technical roadmap.
• Proactively identify gaps and propose solutions.
• Experience working in Agile frameworks is a plus.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in Java/J2EE development and architecture.
• Strong background designing distributed systems, microservices, and high-performance applications.
• Excellent understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and governance.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and architectural strategies.
• Strong communication and presentation skills able to interact with executives and technical teams.
• Proven ability to lead teams and drive architectural initiatives from concept to deployment.
