Collaborative Overview
The Evidence-to-Impact Collaborative (EIC) is a research center and information hub for the science of using social science - we aim to improve the data, methods, and processes related to research, the dissemination of evidence, and to understand the impacts of the use of research evidence on societal well-being. We leverage our expertise in administrative data, program evaluation, and researcher-policymaker relationships for social investment optimization.
The four arms of the EIC include: (1) Data Accelerator, (2) Design4Impact Incubator, (3) Social Investment Optimizer, and (4) Research Translation Platform.
Opportunity
The EIC is looking for two undergraduate research assistants to work on multiple projects. NASDAQ Entrepreneurial Center (NEC) is a non-profit that offers free expert resources and events to inspire entrepreneurs, foster connections, and help them in their journey. Penn State's projects with the NEC sit between the Data Accelerator and Design4Impact Incubator of the EIC. The objective of this work is to identify, improve, and ultimately eliminate the barriers that exist for underrepresented entrepreneurs. To achieve this, our team engages in multiple efforts, including: (1) systematic quantitative and qualitative data collection, (2) novel, theory- and field-driven data analytics, (3) synthesize and translate findings into programs and policy.

Job Description & Details
The undergraduate research assistant position sits under our team of analysts and economists. Main activities include:
- Working closely with data team to build and update the data infrastructure
- Being responsible for extracting and summarizing data from various data sources such as survey and administrative data
- Working independently and collaboratively on projects and academic research as part of the research team
Necessary skills for this position include:
- Currently a student in good standing with a focus on B.S. degree in Statistics, Data science, Economics, or equivalent.
- Higher-order thinking skills (critical thinking, observation, recording, analysis, interpretation, evaluation, complex problem solving, etc.)
- Programming experience in Python, R, Stata or equivalent
- Clear communication skills
