Job Description
Position is directly responsible for Manufacturing Engineering functions of the company and component machining. Creates manufacturing plans and develops the manufacturing processes in order to meet the goals and objectives of the company. Develops standard manufacturing process documentation and controls in support of the product needs including the necessary capital equipment to support process controls. Creates a culture of process excellence and develops engineering team that promotes and executes process improvements and cost reductions.
Roles & Responsibilities: · Manage Manufacturing Engineers supporting component manufacturing and CNC Machine Programming · Apply problem-solving methods to improve and support production of existing parts and/or new product development; eliminate waste and reduce variation · Collect and analyze data using appropriate statistical analysis methods to choose and implement process improvements · Develop and document configurable process for estimating machining and assembly times · Generate and maintain KPI metrics showing performance of the Engineering Team · Ensure proper use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to facilitate inspection and manufacturing · Coordinate with Production/Planning to analyze the production steps and processes in order to minimize production cost and lead-time as well as maximize product quality · Direct the manufacturing engineers in creating processes, creating and maintaining accurate routers, creating and maintaining process procedures, and defining machining methods and tooling · Responsible for creating, and managing to approved department budgets · Responsible for conducting personal performance reviews for direct reports · Executes cost reduction projects to improve margins and reduce overall product costs · Provides regular verbal and written reports to management as required indicating status of programs/projects · Must be able to work extra time as necessary to complete all assigned projects and be available for limited travel as required. Other related duties as required.
Requirements:
BS Degree in Engineering: Mechanical/Aerospace preferred.
Minimum 7 years CNC Machining experience, coupled with 5 + years experience managing an Engineering Department with 15 + years experience in manufacturing engineering focused on machined parts as well as assembly techniques.
Experience setting and managing multiple priorities
MRP system experience a plus and required for this position.
CNC Programming experience a plus.
