Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a Supervisor Engineering - Node with our telecommunications client in Irvine, CA. This is a 12-month contract with a potential for extension.

Pay: $46.72 - $51.72/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment.

Description:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day activities of an assigned team of network design engineers and support personnel.
  • This team has a dedicated focus on the design, build out and delivery of small cell wireless nodes deployed on various types of vertical assets (street / traffic lights, wood poles) in the Right of Way.
  • The position will support the Manager of Network Engineering and work across other fiber and node construction teams within the area, as well as provide support to cross-functional teams to improve the quality of processes, deliverables, and end-to-end customer experience.
  • Each construction team is expected to maintain open communication across all areas of the business and work as a unit with consistency while building, implementing, and restoring or maintaining services; cognizant of fostering the vision and values.
  • This position is accountable for their assigned team and area for delivering KPIs.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage Wireless Node Design projects in the Right of way while providing direction to assigned Network Design Engineers and contractors / A&E vendors in support of the assigned area of responsibility
  • Provide overall project leadership for various small cell node design projects - managing trackers, deliverables, schedules and financial
  • Identify and assess areas of opportunity for improved process efficiencies and performance
  • Maintain knowledge of technology in use, and/or under development for its impact or potential impact on the operational business process
  • Provide support to the Manager of Network Engineering for the assigned areas respective CAPEX spend and budgets
  • Maintain quality service by understanding and enforcing organization standards.
  • Schedule and prioritize the workload of the design team and external vendor resources within an assigned area
  • Provide support to the Manager of Network Engineering in partnerships with utility and municipal providers to streamline the build process
  • Keen understanding of the overall permitting required - encroachment, traffic control and other necessary entitlements needed for work in the ROW
  • Proficiency with GO95, GO128, JPA, AC power, meters and unmetered power solutions as well as utility requirements throughout Southern California
  • Supervise team for the purposes of (including but not limited to)
  • Management of external vendors necessary for timely completion of node design projects and their delivery and closeout - within budget
  • Initial feasibility reviews in accordance with project specifications
  • Ensure that all jobs are maintained in a project tracking system with complete accuracy
  • Participate in the Vendor evaluation and selection process
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with *** design and construction standards, processes, and procedures. Act as a key contributor to continued growth and improvement in each of these

Education/Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • B.S in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction related field or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Proficient in Excel - 5 years working with trackers and functions - lookups, pivots
  • Strong financial acumen

Experience/Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience performing (or equivalent work experience):
  • Direct supervision/management of employees and contractors
  • Node engineering design, and/or construction implementation experience
  • Experience with optical test equipment is a plus including OTDR, PMD, Optical Spectrum Analyzer
  • Working knowledge of node construction standards (aerial and underground associated work for power / fiber connectivity)
  • Working knowledge of NESC, NEC, GO95 and OSHA standards
  • Good understanding of AC power - meters, WTR fused services and understanding of streetlight electrical is a plus

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability for read construction drawings / plan sets and evaluate accuracy and constructability
  • Proven people and project management skills
  • Candidate has a strong background in and a good working knowledge of small cell and fiber optic infrastructure engineering, construction, and integration and closeout methods
  • Familiarity with Outside Plant (OSP) standards and practices including GO95 and GO128
  • Ability to diagnose workflow issues and institute remedies - critical thinking
  • The individual must possess and employ the highest ethical and business standards and always conduct himself/herself with the greatest degree of professional integrity
  • Position needs to be able to operate in a fast-paced customer focused environment handling multiple priorities at a time, delivering quality service to diverse user groups and customers

  • Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Visio, Word, and PowerPoint) skills - Good skills needed with Excel (v/x lookup, pivot tables)
  • Understanding of RF equipment and components as well as applicable wireless construction standards - grounding, EME safety, power (AC and DC)
  • Familiarity with RF testing and validation - PIM and Sweep testing standards
  • Experience with Closeout Packages for wireless site / node deliverables and fiber optic test packages

Location: Irvine, CA area/remote. Will travel a few times per year to the Irvine office for a meeting.
Travel: No field travel and on occasion to Irvine, CA for special team meeting.
Expenses: Cell phone, internet, mileage if traveling to Irvine for a meeting.
