Infrastructure Systems Engineer
Employment: Contract (Potential Contract-to-Hire)

Pay: $57-$67/hr (equivalent to $120k-$140k DOE)
SUMMARY:
Our aerospace client (200-300 FTE) is seeking an Infrastructure Systems Engineer to support critical systems operations, server administration, virtualization, and light networking in a fast-paced, CMMC driven environment. This is a hands-on role focused on execution, automation, and supporting ongoing compliance and infrastructure initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support daily system administration across Windows Server and Linux (Ubuntu/Oracle) environments
- Provision, configure, and maintain VMware ESXi VMs and hosts
- Perform server patching, updates, imaging, and lifecycle management
- Script and automate operational tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Python
- Deploy, configure, and update applications and system tools
- Manage identity, access, and systems configuration using Active Directory and Group Policy
- Troubleshoot OS-level, network-level, and infrastructure-related issues
- Assist with Cisco and Meraki networking operations (switching, VLANs, basic routing)
- Support AWS GovCloud and Azure Government Cloud workloads as needed
- Monitor system health, performance, and capacity across the environment
- Maintain documentation for configurations, runbooks, and standard procedures
- Support CMMC-driven projects, remediation tasks, and audit readiness
- Collaborate closely with Systems, Security, and Network Engineers
- Act as onsite "boots on the ground" resource 3 days per week (hybrid)
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- 5-7+ years of IT experience; 3-4+ years in Systems Engineering or Systems Administration
- Strong experience with Windows Server, Linux (Ubuntu/Oracle), and VMware virtualization
- Hands-on experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
- Working knowledge of Cisco/Meraki networking technologies
- Experience deploying applications, updates, and server configuration
- Ability to troubleshoot servers, endpoints, connectivity, and infrastructure components
- Familiarity with security or compliance environments (CMMC is a plus)
- Strong documentation skills and ability to follow structured procedures
- S. Citizen or (due to gov cloud & compliance)
- Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite in Redondo Beach, CA
BONUS SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- AWS GovCloud or Azure Gov Cloud experience
- Exposure to CMMC, NIST 800-171, ITAR/EAR, or defense-sector environments
- Linux certifications or VMware certifications
- Experience working in fast-paced startups or regulated industries
- Experience with endpoint management tools (Intune, JAMF, SCCM, etc.)
