Position: Java Technical Specialist_ RHEL(C#, Dot Net)
Location: Raleigh, NC (Remote must currently reside in NC)
Duration: 12 Months


NCDOT s Engineering Application Services Department (EAS) is seeking a highly experienced Technical Specialist with strong expertise in Java and system compatibility to support and enhance the HiCAMS application. HiCAMS is a custom client-server application used to track work, materials, and payments for highway construction projects.

The initial focus will be resolving Java-related compatibility issues caused by Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) upgrades from version 7.0 to 8.0 (and eventually 9.0). This role also involves enhancing existing Java, C/C++, and ASP.NET/C# interfaces, implementing new interfaces, and supporting web application development tied to HiCAMS.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and resolve Java library/compatibility issues between RHEL 7.0, 8.0, and 9.0.

  • Enhance and maintain Java, C/C++, and ASP.NET/C# interfaces.

  • Implement new functional changes, bug fixes, and enhancements.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and transform business needs into technical solutions.

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy interfaces and applications.

  • Support SQL database tasks, including stored procedures, triggers, and data conversion.

  • Document technical solutions and communicate effectively with both business and IT teams.

Required Skills (10+ Years):

  • Strong Java development experience with RHEL compatibility issue resolution.

  • Advanced SQL expertise (any platform, Sybase preferred).

  • Experience in remote software development environments.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • C# and ASP.NET development experience.

  • C/C++ development experience.

  • Experience coding stored procedures and triggers.

  • .NET application/API development in Visual Studio.

  • Data conversion experience.
