The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) team is seeking an Experienced Systems Engineer (Level 3) to support Space Battle Management, Command and Control (SBMC2) programs in Colorado Springs, CO.

As a leading innovator in aerospace and defense, Boeing's Phantom Works division focuses on delivering cutting-edge solutions to complex mission challenges. This Systems Engineer role supports our SBMC2 systems in a fast-paced, highly technical environment.

The Systems Engineer will perform as part of a high-performing team and have the opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of innovative solutions in an agile software development environment interfacing with internal and external stakeholders; to include a Joint Industry partnership Team (JIPT) and Working Groups, contributing to the deployment, test and integration of next generation ground command and control capabilities.

Position Responsibilities
  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions for Battle Management Command and Control Architectures, platform development and network infrastructure.
  • Evaluates customer and /operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
  • Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
  • Performs analyses for mission performance, affordability, reliability, maintainability, testability, systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, and, product assurance.
  • Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
  • Resolves cross-functional technical issues.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience in software development or network architecture domains
  • 3+ years of customer interaction (internal or external) through a full project lifecycle, from defining requirements, through planning, execution, and completion
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance
  • Experience establishing or supporting the test phase of the engineering lifecycle
  • Understanding of software development pipelines
  • Mapping of systems requirements

Typical Education & Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
