Senior Data Architect Transportation Technology

As a Senior Data Architect supporting transportation technology initiatives, you will lead the design and governance of enterprise-level data and information architecture across the Transportation Operations ecosystem. This role will drive the creation of standard data models, database structures, and API/event contracts to ensure secure, scalable, and high-performance data solutions aligned with Amtrak's enterprise architecture. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including business analysts, developers, architects, and operations stakeholders to enhance system interoperability and data integrity across a complex portfolio.

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise data architecture for Transportation Operations systems
• Develop and govern standard information/data models, including relational, NoSQL, event-driven, and API schemas
• Evaluate and recommend data technologies and tools to meet system performance, integrity, and security requirements
• Lead database and query performance tuning efforts across platforms
• Ensure consistency and integrity of data across distributed systems and applications
• Mentor team members on data architecture standards and best practices
• Support solutioning activities and collaborate with business clients and technical teams
• Research emerging information technologies and contribute to future-state architecture planning
• Define and enforce data governance policies and database management procedures
• Align solutions with Amtrak's Enterprise Information Management (EIM) standards

• 15+ years of experience in data architecture, information design, and database modeling
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL technologies; expertise in distributed systems and middleware
• Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka and Schema Registry
• Prior experience with data architecture in transportation or rail systems strongly preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field required; Master's degree preferred
• Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as DMBOK and BIZBOK is a plus
