Summary

Title: Automation Engineer

Location: Houston, TX (3 days a week onsite)

ComTec is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Automation Engineer to join our IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions for the critical IT network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, and VPNs. You will play a key part in streamlining configuration, managing changes, and improving the overall efficiency and reliability of our network operations.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools using Python to configure network devices, manage changes, and perform routine tasks.
Utilize Ansible for orchestration and configuration management across various network infrastructure components.
Design and implement end-to-end automation workflows for network provisioning, changes, and upgrades.
Collaborate with network engineers and other IT teams to identify automation opportunities and gather requirements.
Ensure that automation solutions adhere to security best practices and compliance standards.
Troubleshoot automation issues and continually optimize scripts for performance and reliability.
Document automation processes, playbooks, and best practices.

Required Skills:

Proven experience as an Automation Engineer or similar role, specifically focused on IT network infrastructure.
Strong proficiency in Python for scripting and automation.
Extensive experience with Ansible for configuration management and orchestration.
Solid understanding of YAML for defining automation playbooks and data structures.
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Extras:

Experience with ServiceNow for workflow automation, incident management, or change management.
