Employment Type: Contract - W2
Duration: Minimum 12 months; this contract may be extended based on business needs, with potential opportunities for conversion to a full-time position.
Position Type: Hybrid; The position requires attendance in the office 3 to 4 times per week. Please note that initial training will be conducted in the office for 3 to 6 weeks, after which the role will transition to a hybrid schedule.
Position Summary:
The Collector is responsible for the tax collection of assigned cases for the State of Arizona and participating counties and cities. Assigned tax cases could include Individual Income, Corporate Income, Withholding, and Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT). This role will contact and collect tax liabilities and delinquencies via phone calls and field visits to residences, places of employment, and/or business locations, and will educate taxpayers while promoting voluntary taxpayer compliance. To succeed in this position, candidates should have a bias for doing the right thing and serving others with a positive attitude.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reviewing taxpayer accounts.
- Verifying, gathering, and simultaneously updating key information.
- Educating taxpayers on online resources and current tax policies.
- Documenting actions taken in multiple systems.
- Participating in all team engagement activities.
- Meeting performance expectations.
- Contacts taxpayers via phone call to resolve delinquent tax liabilities, as assigned.
- Schedules field visits to taxpayers' residencies, places of employment, and/or business locations.
- Educate taxpayers and promote voluntary compliance by reviewing financial statements, providing supporting documentation, and offering assistance in obtaining and maintaining tax compliance.
- Negotiate payment arrangements.
- Participate in the seizure and sale of assets and/or inventory to satisfy delinquent tax liabilities by determining lien property, reviewing and analyzing the value of assets/inventory, securing the property, preparing and conducting assets for public auction, and physically moving assets to set up a sale.
Skills Required:
- Strong ability to multitask.
- Basic use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace.
- Basic math skills are required: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Skills Preferred:
- Spanish-speaking.
Education Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Education Preferred:
- An Associate's Degree or higher.
Experience Required:
- The previous two positions should each be at least one consecutive year in a fast-paced call center.
- National call centers in industries such as finance/banking, insurance, and telecommunications (not technical support).
Experience Preferred:
- Experience with participating in process improvement activities.
Additional Information:
- This position offers the possibility of future permanent employment for agents who successfully perform the duties of the position and demonstrate dependability and cultural alignment.
- Selected candidates must abide by the required pre-employment checks, including state and federal criminal background checks, fingerprinting, and an Arizona tax filing records check for the previous 5 years.
- Candidates must live in the Greater Phoenix Metro area and be able to attend 1st day orientation in person.
- Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule as dictated by business needs within our operating hours, 7:45 AM to 5:15 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Training is an intensive 3 to 6 weeks from 8:30 AM to 5 PM. Training is onsite.
- Attendance is critical, as learning and applying knowledge are continuous in this role.
- Hybrid role.
- Hardwired internet access with sufficient bandwidth to handle applications required for the job duties when working in a hybrid setting.
- If using a 5G router, please bring this on day 1 so the IT department can prepare it to work with the issued equipment.
- Short stint work history will likely not make it to the interview.
- Call center history should not be a switchboard operation/dispatch, transferring calls.
- Candidates must be able to transport equipment from the office to home (micro desktop, 2 monitors, keyboard, mouse, headset), not via public transportation.
