Job Description

The Data/Information Architect will support enterprise data modeling, documentation, and database environment modernization efforts. This role is responsible for assessing existing data models, creating and updating ERwin models, improving data integrity, and supporting Oracle and SQL Server production environments. The position requires hands-on experience with ERwin, Oracle, and MS SQL databases, along with strong collaboration skills in a multi-disciplinary technical team environment.


Scope of the Project

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting a current-state assessment of existing ERwin data models.

  • Delivering updated logical and physical data models in ERwin (.erwin) format.

  • Creating data dictionaries and supporting documentation.

  • Maintaining version-controlled repositories of data models.

  • Identifying data integrity and consistency issues and providing remediation recommendations.

  • Assisting with duplicate data resolution.

  • Providing weekly progress reports and a full summary report at project completion.

  • Supporting production DBA tasks such as daily ticket resolution, version updates, and security updates.

  • Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required.

You will be working closely with a team of six database engineers/administrators as well as application architects, developers, business analysts, and server support teams.


Daily Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain logical and physical data models using ERwin.

  • Perform reverse and forward engineering of database structures.

  • Provide best practices for data modeling, metadata management, and documentation.

  • Ensure database designs support scalability, performance, and data integrity.

  • Identify data inconsistencies and provide recommendations for remediation.

  • Assist with duplicate data resolution and data quality improvement efforts.

  • Collaborate with architects, DBAs, developers, and analysts to translate business requirements into accurate data models.

  • Maintain version-control and model repository standards.

  • Support data governance and compliance initiatives.

  • Perform similar data modeling tasks for MS SQL Server environments as needed.

  • Provide Oracle and SQL Server production support tasks as assigned by the DBA Manager.


Required Skills (Ranked by Importance)

  1. 3+ years of professional data modeling experience using ERwin Data Modeler or a comparable data modeling tool

  2. Oracle 19c DBA experience and/or SQL Server 2019/2022 experience


Preferred Skills (Ranked by Importance)

  • SQL Server DBA certification

  • DD Boost experience (backup/restore support for Oracle databases)

  • Oracle Grid Control

  • Oracle ASM
