Position Overview
We are looking for a Vision Software Engineer to contribute to camera calibration, image quality, and system validation across our imaging pipeline.
The role focuses on real-world imaging systems, including calibration, validation, and performance in production conditions. You will work closely with physical devices, acquisition setups, and production workflows to ensure accuracy and consistency across units.
The position is on-site in Herndon, near the production line, with direct involvement in testing, troubleshooting, and improving system performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain camera calibration pipelines (intrinsic/extrinsic, multi-camera if applicable)
• Analyze and improve image quality (focus, sharpness, distortion, alignment, tracking stability)
• Work with real acquisition setups (cameras, lenses, rigs, calibration targets)
• Investigate and resolve issues observed during testing or production
• Define validation metrics and acceptance criteria for device performance
• Improve robustness of the vision pipeline under real-world conditions
• Validate 3D reconstruction accuracy (mesh comparison, repeatability, consistency)
• Build tools (C++) for data analysis, debugging, and validation
• Document experiments, results, and conclusions in a clear and structured way
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
• Strong experience in camera calibration / validation and imaging systems (5+ years)
• Strong C++ skills for performance-oriented development
• Solid understanding of camera systems and calibration concepts
• Experience working with real systems and experimental setups
• Familiarity with OpenCV, PCL, or similar libraries
• Ability to design experiments and analyze results using basic statistics
• Clear and structured communication
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with 3D reconstruction or point cloud processing
• Exposure to multi-sensor systems (e.g., stereo, structured light)
• Familiarity with production or manufacturing environments
