LAB Research Chemist/Physicist/Engineer II

Duration: 12+ Months

Pay rate: $25 - $28.57/Hr.


Summary:
Works with moderate work direction, and can identify issues/problems but may need assistance in resolving. Worker to assume responsibility for initiating and performing defined technical activities leading to new or improve products, processes or technologies on a program basis. Usually reports to a supervisor or senior technical individual.

Duties and responsibilities may include initiating and completing technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes which have significant impact potential at a program level. Establish and cultivate a network of support (laboratory, manufacturing, engineering sales and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments. Participate in project planning, and documents experimental data/observations in technical notebooks (or approved electronic files), prepares reports, and makes oral presentations.

Specific duties include:
Maintaining a safe working environment in a research laboratory.
Planning and executing small batch experiments with polymers
Safely operating small-scale processing equipment including mixers, hot presses, etc.
Performing sample testing, including tensile & elongation, DSC, DMA, rheometry, etc.
Summarizing test data and providing feedback on the quality of the results.
Performing housekeeping tasks in the lab, incl. cleaning and maintenance of equipment
Working closely with technical team members to complete tasks
Performing other duties as assigned

Skills:
1-2 years of experience in processing polymeric materials in a laboratory environment
Experience in material characterization

Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
Experience in a lab environment
Strong drive to for proper lab housekeeping and cleanliness
Mechanical aptitude


Education:
4-year College degree, ideally in the STEM field (specifically Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, etc)
