Job Description
Focus: Tableau Report & Dashboard Authoring
Description: Several applications need to have their reporting and visualization (tables and charts) migrated to a standard delivery mechanism. 75% of the visualizations are already designed and would need to be ported directly with the candidate offering alternative implementations for some charts and visualizations that may not have a direct parallel. The remaining portion will be designing visualizations that don’t already exist but for data sources that do already exist.
The team does not have any experience with Tableau and the goal would be to implement this project while also educating the team sufficiently to maintain, troubleshoot, and make minor changes to the final results. This includes working with the project team and the enterprise Tableau team to establish a release processes for this project. Primarily QAT+UAT testing and production deployment.
Depending on the skillset the candidate may also get involved in migrating datasets (relatively small) from an old schema to a redesigned one.
Looking for:
- Comfortable implementing Tableau space from scratch
- Ability to map visualizations from other charting tools into Tableau, adjusting where there is not a perfect analogy
- Understands data models enough to suggest changes to database table design where it would reduce complexity in Tableau reporting
- Comfortable coaching and teaching a small group of developers how to adjust and maintain the end result
