Who we are looking for

We are seeking a Technical Business Analyst with deep expertise in database administration, cloud-based data operations, and strategic planning to support the Alpha Platform's evolving data infrastructure. This is a hands-on, business-to-technology role that will be instrumental in shaping and executing our database strategy roadmap, ensuring operational excellence, and driving innovation in Azure-based data services.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a solid understanding of modern database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, distributed systems), and experience managing cross-functional initiatives that span data architecture, performance tuning, security, and compliance. This role will work closely with DBAs, Cloud Platform Engineers, Technical Product Managers, and Platform Architects to ensure our data infrastructure is scalable, secure, and aligned with business goals.

The BA will assis t PMs in managing their product backlogs, ensuring engineering teams are taking full advantage of their allotted capacit y . The BA will also provide guidance and mentorship to other BAs within the Platform department on career development, performance, engagement, and professional development. The position is based in Massachusetts, USA.

The team you will be joining is part of the Charles River Investment Management Solution (CRIMS), a market leader in providing a comprehensive end-to-end investment management platform covering front, middle and back office. The Charles River IMS platform offers portfolio management, compliance, order and execution management, post-trade processing, data provisioning and management, performance measurement, as well as other key capabilities important to the investment lifecycle.

What you will be responsible for

  • Defining and maintaining a comprehensive roadmap for database technologies and operations, aligned with the company's SaaS platform growth, performance, and scalability goals.
  • Lead the adoption and optimization of Azure data services (e.g. Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, SQL Server) to support scalable and resilient data operations.
  • Oversee database administration practices including backup and recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, monitoring, and automation.
  • Partner with Engineering, DevOps, Security, and Product teams to ensure database solutions meet performance, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Analyze and prioritize incoming issues, ensuring timely resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and manage third-party tools and services that enhance database performance, observability, and management.
  • Provide guidance to junior analysts and DBAs, fostering a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence in an agile environment.


Qualifications:

  • 0-2+ years of experience in product management, technical business analysis, or database administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure cloud services, especially in the context of data and database manage3ment.
  • Experience with SaaS platforms, both single-tenant and multi-tenant data architecture and compliance.
  • Experience leading product management and software engineering teams.
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent, and/or other work experience in a technical setting.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Experience in Financial Services is preferred.
  • Experience working with remote teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong contributor with high motivation, with the ability to take initiative, set priorities, and perform tasks with minimal guidance.
