Business Intelligence Programmer

University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc.

The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) invites applications and nominations to fill the position of Business Intelligence Programmer for the Central Services office located in Knoxville, TN. Reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence, the Business Intelligence Programmer develops and maintains programs, documentation, and operating instructions, leads reusable programming solutions, participates in systems design, and manages project maintenance, major modifications, or system development.

The purpose of this position is to evaluate, develop, and implement efficient and secure processes, business rules, and workflows for data management in ACE, ensure data integrity and compliance through documentation and monitoring, collaborate with key partners to meet data needs, and identify and manage external resources and solutions for data enhancement. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Application Development: Reviews user needs, develops proposed system enhancements, and ensures adherence to project schedules. Designs, develops, and implements application enhancements, including software that supplements or integrates with existing systems. Provides technical assistance, trains users, and applies emerging technologies to improve efficiencies.

Data Systems Integration: Develop and oversee UTFI data integration strategies, architectures and workflows. Implement best solutions using best practices. Research and recommend key ETL technologies to meet business requirements, evaluate new technologies for improved functionality. Conduct data design architect reviews and troubleshoot integration processes. Document workflows and mentor IT staff on data integration best practices.

Data Maintenance and Enhancement: Evaluate, develop, and implement efficient and secure processes, business rules, and workflows for data imported/exported to and from UTFI Fundraising databases. Document and set data entry guidelines, policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Implement procedural changes for processing such transactions and manage data using department integrity queries and reports. Communicate and collaborate with key partners to identify and assess data needs and services with UTFI. Identify external data acquisition vendors, data hygiene tools, and other resources to enhance data in the database.

Required Education and Experience

The candidate who fills the Business Intelligence Programmer position is required to have:

- Bachelors Degree and 3+ years of experience is required. Experience must include:

- Enterprise- level application development

- Experience in at least two of the following using SQL, PL/SQL, ASP.NET, JavaScript, XML, C/C++, C#

- CRM databases focusing on data management

- Proficiency of Web Services protocols such as REST, SOAP, and API design for extensibility and portability

- Applications programmer on large- scale data base management systems

- Experience with complex relational database structures

- Experience in system analysis

Preferred Education and Experience

In addition to meeting the required qualifications, the preferred candidate will have:

- Knowledge of middleware systems including LDAP, CAS, security and user authorization systems

- Experience with Ascend or other fundraising software

- Experience with Tableau Cloud

- Experience with a University Enterprise Information System (Payroll, Student, Alumni, etc)

- Understanding of Institutional Advancement
