    Position Overview

    Securian Financial is building a Data Management Center of Excellence within the Enterprise Data and Analytics (eDNA) department. eDNA's vision is to leverage data as an enterprise asset to enable customer-centricity and empower our businesses to drive strategic growth. This position will be responsible for implementing data management capabilities with respect to people and process governance as the team drives to achieve our vision. This position will use project management skills to align people, processes, and tools to drive implementation of data management capabilities. This requires a candidate with the ability to collaborate with internal teams and key stakeholders (such as enterprise risk and compliance teams and business area data contacts) to drive and sponsor data management initiatives. A successful candidate will have a bias for action, ability to collaborate across teams, focus on risk management, passion for data governance, and possess a continuous improvement and agile mindset, and program implementation experience.

    Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Drive implementation and ongoing management of data management capabilities in enterprise data projects incorporating the following functions: privacy and security, data quality, standardization, storage and archival, access and retrieval, data retention, master data and metadata management, data audit, etc.

  • Develop, implement, and drive awareness of data management procedures, templates, principles, standards, and practices.

  • Provide oversight and governance of established data management processes to ensure continued compliance with enterprise policies. Network and collaborate with business owners, technical resources, and privacy, security, risk, and compliance teams.

  • Lead adoption and ongoing management of the enterprise data catalog solution including partnering with data stewards and custodians to develop business glossaries, profiling, scanning, and curating enterprise data assets.

  • Lead management of master data solutions, standards, best practices, and processes.

  • Coordinate with business and technical teams to implement data quality processes and remediation efforts to ensure data meets enterprise standards.

  • Design and manage metrics to monitor progress and quality of data management strategy and roadmap.

  • Support leader in the development and ongoing maturity of the data management center of excellence, data management program functions, data governance activities, and other duties as assigned, including providing recommendations for improvement.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience implementing data management and/or data governance functions in financial services, insurance, or similar industry.

  • Strong knowledge and implementation experience around data management, data governance, data privacy management, data retention management, metadata and master data management, and data quality.

  • Strong program and project management experience, with excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills, bringing projects and issues to closure, driving for results and continuous progress.

  • Proven track record of driving collaborative decision making and effective conflict resolution skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, to partner with others and explain processes and business value to people at all levels (from executive leadership to individual performers).

  • Resilient and agile mindset with the ability to manage change as we build a new team and evolve over time.

  • Strong knowledge of data governance framework, industry standards, best practices, and related tools (i.e., Informatica Axon and EDC).

  • Strong skills in the following leadership competencies: thinks critically, innovates, remains resilient, collaborates, drives for results.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of financial services and insurance industries.

  • Knowledge of data privacy laws (e.g., GLBA, GDPR, CCPA, CPRA)

  • Knowledge of data impact to financial audit regulations like GAAP, IFRS, LDTI

  • Experience in AWS cloud services or equivalent and knowledge of cloud computing and tools.

    **This position will be in a hybrid working arrangement.**

    Physical job requirements:

  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day

  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
