Role: SRE Data/ETL Specialist

Location: Plano, TX (onsite)

Fulltime or W2 with Hexaware

Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Data/ETL Specialist

Role Overview

As an SRE focused on Data and ETL, you will ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of data pipelines and ETL workflows in production environments. You will work closely with data engineering, operations, and application teams to automate processes, monitor systems, and resolve production issues related to data movement and transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • ETL Workflow Management
    • Support and maintain ETL jobs using tools like Informatica, Talend, or similar.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot batch jobs scheduled via AutoSys or Apache Airflow.
    • Ensure timely execution of data pipelines and resolve failures promptly.
  • SRE Responsibilities
    • Implement monitoring, alerting, and automation for ETL workflows and data systems.
    • Develop scripts and tools for operational efficiency (Python, Shell).
    • Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and postmortems.
    • Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines for ETL deployments.
    • Ensure data integrity, security compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Performance & Reliability
    • Optimize ETL processes for scalability and performance.
    • Conduct capacity planning and resource utilization analysis.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience with ETL tools (Informatica, Talend, DataStage, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with AutoSys and Apache Airflow for job scheduling.
  • Proficiency in SQL and data modeling concepts.
  • Familiarity with Python scripting for automation and workflow orchestration.
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes for incident/change management.
  • Good knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and data services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • 4 8+ years of experience in ETL development and production support.
  • Certifications in ETL tools or cloud data services (preferred).

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark).
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality frameworks.
