    Contribute to mission success of the Space Systems Center (SSC) by working in the Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) mission area in the Aerospace Space Based Sensing Division. Primary responsibilities include providing electronics engineering expertise and leadership in support of mission payloads for Next Gen GEO and Polar OPIR Space Systems.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Support Aerospace OPIR Payload Systems Director and payload leads with development of Next Gen Geo and Polar mission payloads by
    • Providing leadership in addressing space electronics issues at the part, board, and box, subsystem, and system levels.
    • Working closely with contractors on electronics, electrical and electronics design, build, test, and integration. Presenting findings and recommendations to the customer.
    • Participating in program status assessments and independent risk assessments that inform management of perceived technical problems and recommend mitigation plans.
    • Building and effectively leading multi-disciplinary Aerospace teams to address mission payload electronics technical and programmatic risks. This includes strategically planning for their mitigation and leading to successful issue or anomaly resolution.

    Minimum Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or physics.
    • 8 or more years of relevant engineering/scientific experience, including experience in electronics and systems, including FPGAs, microprocessors, memory devices, ASICs, and standard parts.
    • Direct experience coordinating technical teams to solve complex problems
    • Relevant experience presenting technical material to customers
    • Current Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
    • Occasional travel is required


    What You Need to be Successful - Sr Project Leader

    Minimum Requirements:
    • 12 or more years of engineering/scientific experience, including experience in space electronics and systems, including FPGAs, microprocessors, memory devices, ASICs, and standard parts.
    • At least 5 years of experience with ASIC and FPGA design, demonstrated understanding of radiation effects in electronics (especially single event effects), and network electronics.
    • Demonstrated collaboration with government customer on regular basis including providing technical awareness and solutions for space electronics problems.
    • Proven track record of team leadership of contractor and domain experts to develop independent assessments of space electronics issues.
    • Current Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
    • Occasional travel is required


    How You Can Stand Out

    It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
    • Experience with space analog and digital electronics, ASIC and FPGA design, radiation hardening of electronics, radiation effects in electronics (especially single event effects), and network electronics.
    • Master's degree in electrical engineering or physics.
    • Active TS/SCI
