Digital PMO Leader (Remote - EST hrs)
We are looking to hire a candidate with the skills sets mentioned and experience for one of our clients within the pharmaceutical Industry. This is a REMOTE position

Position Overview

The Digital PMO Leader is responsible for building and leading an enterprise-wide Project Management Office to ensure consistent, predictable, and value-driven delivery of digital initiatives. This role defines portfolio strategy, governance, delivery standards, and the operational cadence for all technology and business transformation programs. You will oversee portfolio planning, program execution, resource/capacity management, and financial governance with Planview and Smartsheet as the core PMO platforms. This position partners closely with the CIO, CFO, COO, and Business Unit leadership to ensure strategic alignment, transparent reporting, and continuous delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Portfolio Strategy & Planning

  • Lead Enterprise Portfolio Management across all digital and technology initiatives.
  • Drive annual and quarterly planning cycles including budgeting, prioritization, and sequencing.
  • Align investments with organizational strategy, OKRs, and measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor portfolio health using Planview dashboards and analytics.

2. PMO Governance & Operating Model

  • Define, implement, and enforce PMO standards, stage gates, templates, and delivery processes.
  • Establish unified intake assessment prioritization approval workflows.
  • Maintain consistent methodologies (Agile, hybrid, waterfall).
  • Lead governance forums and Steering Committee meetings.

3. Program & Project Oversight

  • Lead and mentor PMs, Program Managers, Scrum Masters, and delivery leaders.
  • Monitor scope, schedule, budget, risks, and quality across all initiatives.
  • Evaluate project health and proactively address dependencies and escalations.
  • Ensure benefit realization, KPIs, and outcome delivery.

4. Financial Management & Budget Governance

  • Manage portfolio budgets in partnership with Finance (CapEx, OpEx, forecasting).
  • Track actuals, variances, burn rates, and financial risks using Planview.
  • Validate business cases, ROI modeling, and benefit realization tracking.
  • Lead quarterly forecasting and financial reconciliation.

5. Resource & Capacity Management

  • Partner with functional leaders to forecast and allocate resources.
  • Manage utilization, availability, and skills alignment across roles.
  • Identify resource gaps, propose solutions, and support hiring plans.
  • Maintain real-time capacity dashboards in Planview.

6. Reporting, Analytics & Executive Communication

  • Deliver clear, actionable reports for CIO/CFO/Steering Committees.
  • Build real-time Planview and Smartsheet dashboards.
  • Provide insights on portfolio performance, risk trends, and decisions needed.
  • Create high-quality executive presentations and portfolio reviews.

7. Planview & Smartsheet Ownership

  • Serve as system owner/admin for Planview and Smartsheet.
  • Maintain taxonomy, workflows, automations, integrations, and permissions.
  • Drive adoption and training for both platforms.
  • Ensure data quality and reporting integrity.

8. Change Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead change management for new PMO processes, tools, and governance models.
  • Build PMO playbooks, training programs, and best-practice toolkits.
  • Advance PMO maturity and promote a culture of delivery excellence.
  • Drive adoption of digital project solutions and automation.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years in project/program/portfolio management, including 3 5 years in PMO leadership.
  • Experience managing enterprise-level digital/technology portfolios.
  • Strong expertise in Planview, Smartsheet, and related PPM tools.
  • Deep knowledge of Agile, hybrid, and waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience managing $10M $100M+ budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation.
  • Executive communication and senior leadership presentation skills.
  • Proven success in establishing governance structures and delivery frameworks.
  • Ability to influence across functions and lead change.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: PMP, PMO-CP, SAFe, PgMP, or similar.
  • Experience with digital transformation or IT modernization initiatives.
  • Strong financial acumen in CapEx/OpEx and ROI modeling.
  • Experience integrating Planview with Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, or ERP tools.
